Blog about the public health importance of safe drinking-water
The Earth has 366 quintillion gallons of water. A number I never even knew existed. Out of this massive number, only .007 is drinkable that is shared amongst 7 billion people. The lakes around the world are shrinking, and the mountains are giving off less drinkable water year by year. 2 million residents lack water pipelines in Mexico due to ground water depletion. Out of 7 billion residents, 1.2 billion of them can't get access to fresh water. The US consumes more water than Europe and Africa, and more people around the world have a cell phone than fresh water. Clean water is sustains agriculture, industry, energy, and a healthy life. Ground water is water under our feet between rocks, dirt, and life. This water is trapped down here from rain absorption and stays stored down here for thousandths of years. Ground water can sometimes rise up to the surface of the land.Ground water is so important to us because it helps grow the farm plants that is delivered to us to eat because rain is not enough. Farmers depend on ground water in the dry seasons the most for their crops to live.

Hi,
ReplyDeleteIm with you..I actually cant even quantify how much 366 quintillion gallons of water. It is sad that 1.2 billion people can't access fresh water. I think living here and in a middle class family where I always had access to fresh water I have taken something that is so basic and important for granted.
