Green Chemistry is a specialized area of chemistry and chemical engineering that is specifically focused on designing products and a proper process that helps reduce the use and generation of hazardous substances. Green chemistry helps reduce pollution, eliminates hazard from existing products, and helps design chemical products and processes to reduce intrinsic hazards.
My favorite green chemistry principle was to design saved chemicals and products. This is
important to do because often we are always living such a busy life, we fail to realize what we actually are putting in and on our bodies. Many makeup brands at a lower price point have
hazardous chemicals in it. Just because someone is buying the lower priced brands, shouldn’t have to sacrifice their health. My work is not known to practice green chemistry, yet. After
reading more about it, I am interested in holding sessions at my work to educate others on it.
Hi
ReplyDeleteI agree with you. I think designing safer chemical and products would be so key because like you said - we live busy lives and are exposed to so many chemicals and probably don't even stop to realize it or stop it. I feel like so much of the responsibility shouldn't fall on the consumers, and companies should take eon more of the responsibility.
