M7.4 Blog about your local environmental services

I currently am living in the city of Fremont, California. This city falls under the Alameda County and after doing some research, it is great to know that our city provides lots of resources for Environmental Health Services.
Some services my community provides is
-Cigarette Butt Liter Reduction
The website explains the risks and dangers of cigarette butts being littered into our waterways. There are proper techniques and ways listed on disposing butts if you are a smoker.
-Garbage and Recycle Classes
These are classes for anyone in the community to attend. These classes are taught proper ways to recycle; which bin is for what, what can and can't be recycled.
-Illegal Dumping
I was not sure what this was until I read, "Illegal dumping occurs when solid or liquid waste is discarded in an unpermitted area. Doing so can lead to environmental and public health concerns including water pollution, insects, rodents, and other scavengers that may transmit disease (Illegal Dumping Guide)."
-Free Recycling Container Give-Away Days
These are days the community provides of extra recycling bins to be given away when they usually are of cost.
-Butterfly Gardens Clean-Up (School Volunteer Days)
This is a great way to get a class to go in a field trip to help clean the ButterFly Garden in Fremont. This can be fun for the kids, as well as rewarding to the city.

  1. Hi,

Interesting post. You have a lot of different interesting environmental health services in your community. I think they are all interesting but I think what is really cool is the butterfly gardens clean up. I think this is cool because it shows how kids can get involved in helping the city and their community. It also gets them outside and active.
